Ayurvedic Wellness Coaching and Yoga

Namaste sweet souls,

Everything in the universe cycles and shifts in a regulated manner, for example the planets, the seasons, and the sun and moon throughout the day. There is a principle in Ayurveda:

“What happens in the macrocosm happens in the microcosm.”

When it comes to our bodies, we also cycle through shifts just like the seasons. We have Kapha, Pitta, and Vata times throughout our lifetime. And for women, the cycling of the doshas throughout the month.

Traditionally, people ate from their local harvest – whatever was available is what they would eat. So typically, produce that was out of season wasn’t even available. This served the body well, as our bodies acclimatise to develop enzymes suitable for digesting and assimilating local, seasonal food.

As the seasons ebbed and flowed from one to another, so too would Nature’s harvest.

This is where things get a little tricky in today’s society. With the import and export industry making food from all regions of the world available all year round, it makes it hard to know what’s actually in season when you go for your weekly grocery shop. Pineapples are available at the grocery store all year. Asian tropical fruits are available in Western countries all year round.

This is how the nutritional approach of ‘Seasonal Eating’ came about. Traditionally, people did not need a philosophy around it. They simply ate what was growing around them at that time of year. The body would gradually adjust to the qualities of each season, and the foods available would naturally support that adjustment. Cooling fruits in the heat of summer, grounding root vegetables as the weather cooled, lighter greens in the spring when the body felt heavy, Nature provided what was needed.

Autumn is one of those beautiful transitional windows where this wisdom becomes especially relevant.

As the light softens and the air begins to cool, our body naturally starts to adjust. Digestion can shift, energy patterns change, and our mind begins to seek grounding and steadiness. Ayurveda teaches us to honour these seasonal movements by gently refining our habits, simplifying our inputs, and creating space for these natural adjustments to occur.

Seasonal cleansing during Autumn is a way of supporting this transition. It offers an opportunity to lighten the digestive load, nourish the tissues appropriately, and reset daily rhythms so that our body feels clear, stable, and well prepared for the cooler months ahead.

This month at Live to Serve Academy, the invitation is open to embrace this rhythm together.

Over the coming month, you’ll find a collection of Autumn-aligned Ayurvedic techniques, a supportive Hatha playlist designed specifically for this transitional season, and guidance around seasonal eating and digestive reset. I’ve also got a Neti tutorial to support the respiratory system as the weather changes and the air becomes drier. Stay tuned for all this and more over March.

I’m especially pleased to share our free, self-paced Ayurvedic At-Home Cleanse. It has been designed to feel effective and realistic for modern life, offering structure and resources while allowing you to move at a pace that suits your personal circumstances.

Alongside this, we have some beautiful upcoming events that will create further opportunities to learn, practice, and deepen your understanding of how the timeless principles of Ayurveda can be lived in a practical and meaningful way (including Understanding ADHD through an Ayurvedic lens with Dr Rafeena).

Plus don't forget our usual Student Group Mentoring 8am, Friday 6th March! Zoom link available in the Facebook group.

Autumn invites refinement. It invites us to gently reassess what we are consuming, how we are living, and where our energy is being directed. When we move with the season rather than against it, the body responds with greater ease. As Nature shifts, we shift.

Perhaps a reflection to contemplate for this month would simply be:

What small adjustments would help me feel more aligned with this season?

Well wishes,

Sami
