Start Where You Are

Many people feel drawn to yoga because they sense there is something more there — a way of living that brings greater balance, wisdom, and wellbeing.

If you’re curious about yoga but not sure where to begin, you’re in the right place.

The 'Live' stage of your journey with Live to Serve Academy is about gradually integrating the practices of yoga and Ayurveda into your daily life. Small changes in how you breathe, move, eat, rest, and care for yourself can create significant shifts in your health, energy, and mindset.

You don’t need to study everything all at once. Simply begin with following your curiosity, and adding a few practices to your day, allowing your understanding and appetite for more to grow naturally over time.

Classical texts recommend Abhyanga as a daily practice, as it is said to ward off the effects aging, relieve the strain of daily exertion, and pacify aggravation of Vata dosha. It nourishes the body, supports longevity, promotes sound sleep, and maintains strong, healthy tissues.

Ayurvedic yoga doesn’t mean you have to practice in a particularly different way. It simply means taking into account your energy levels, environment, time of day, and your current state of body and mind.

It’s about choosing asana, breath work, and an intention or focus that supports balance.

Get to know Vata Dosha

Vata governs movement. Everything that flows, shifts, circulates, or transforms. Because of its mobile, subtle, and light nature, it resides in the spaces and cavities of the body.

Get to Know Pitta Dosha

Pitta governs
transformation. Everything that digests, metabolises, refines, and sharpens depends on Pitta’s fire. Because of its hot, sharp, and liquid nature, Pitta resides in areas where conversion and processing take place, both physically and mentally.

Get to Know Kapha Dosha

Kapha governs structure, lubrication, and cohesion. Everything that gives the body form, steadiness, and endurance. Because of its heavy, moist, and stabilising nature, Kapha resides in the body’s dense and fluid tissues, maintaining strength and stability while preventing dryness and decay.

Dinacharya aligns a person’s daily activities with the rhythms of nature. Meaning, the alignment the biorhythms of the body with the rhythms of nature. Just as nature is designed to consistently turn from day to night and night to day with specific actions occurring during these times, our bodies are also designed to sleep and restore at night, while being awake and active during the day.
